Direct VB To Social Networking

Well i tried to market a new Forum in a particular industry by the use of facebook and the popular local classifieds , and there was a nil response but that could be just a lack of interest in that particular category. So i did more digging and found that there was action going on in social network sites in this category then other Forums. So is the social network the way to go . I fine in the groups in facebook that there is not much going on in the discussions section where people seemed to just to love to leave a short statement. Even photos seem to get a better responses . So should vb Move to more of the social network platform to keep up with the trends or offer both options?

I'm happy with the way things are, I wouldn't want to be any more like Facebook because no VB Forum can beat Facebook at it's own game... we should be content to be what we are and leave it at that.

I could careless about trying to compete with Facebook. Just gimme da 3rd party apps, so i can rig automated posts to a Facebook wall or Facebook fan page with over 5k ppl, ya know what I mean? lol
