Hi ragtek ,

Thanks you for your reply.

I don't want to empty anything? I just want to empty the tables that have data no need it. like temp. to reduce the database size.

Regards

If there is data in the table, then most likely it is needed. There are some temp_* tables that get made at times, but they get deleted by the software.

If you want to reduce the size of the database, make sure your attachments/avatars are stored in the filesystem instead of the database. After you move them, do a repair/optimize on those tables and the size will go down.

Hi Lynne.

This is a useful information I learn from you. As I told I read that I can empty these tables:

adminlog
searchindex
search
session
word

It will not harm the forum data. I don't know if these right or NOT.

Also you told that I have to make sure " attachments/avatars are stored in the filesystem instead of the database"

How can I make sure of this?

Thanks

In the left hand column, under Attchment, click on "Attachment Storage Type"

If it says
Quote:
Attachments are currently being stored in the database

Move Items from Database into File System
Click on "go" to move your attachments into the filesystem. You will need to ensure you hava directory for attachments that is writable by the system..

Good Luck!

adminlog stores all the actions done in the adminpanel. You may empty that in admincp > stats & logs > control panel log > prune You may do the same with the Moderator Log and Scheduled Task Log.

searchindex and search are no longer needed in vB4

session is used to keep track of who is on your site at any particular time - it's your Currently Active Users and your Online Users. It's also a MEMORY table - it takes up no drive space, only memory. If you reboot the computer or mysql, it's zapped.

word table is gone in vb4 also.
