It is rather tedious to setup the various permissions and configuration for the usergroups;

are there easy methods of doing it ? for example, writing to the database directly ?

is it possible to copy the configurations from one group to another ?

It's quite simple, actually.

Just copy/clone an existing usergroup's permissions to the new usergroup and edit the permissions if necessary.
