NavBar: Space Before Home Tab & Equal Tab Width

I'm over my limit on navbar width on 1024x768 monitors. Links are being covered by the search box. I think the problem could be resolved if I could eliminate the space before the "Home" tab. Does anyone know how to do that?

On 1280x960 monitors, I still have a lot of horizontal space. I'd like for the navbar and searchbox to cover the entire width of the table. Can someone help me with that?
