Ugrade question??

I think i really ++++ed my site, so i was wondering since i have the forum files saved to my pc would it be possible to upgrade and install vbadvanced then load my forum files and get my site back??

what steps am i gonna have to take ??

How exactly did you ++++ up your site, the files or the db? Is the db undamaged? If yes, then you can get your forum back easily. If the db is damaged, then it will need to be repaired. Failed that you should restore your most recent backup.

the only backup other then the forum files i have was a backup i made from cpanel..i made afull backup and it made a backup.tar file I had to download i guess thats my database backup...your saying load the mysql database and it wlil be fine ??

I tried adding

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true); to my config.php file but still nothing....
