Mod Ideas
Current Vbulletin version CMS 4.0.5
Just a few Mod Ideas that I had and frankly I am surprised that no one has done anything like this yet. 1: Widget to display threads from 1 specific forum Benefits of this mod: Users using the CMS who have sections (pages)dedicated to a specific forum would be able to show other threads from that forum in the section page. notes: Should be able to easily choose which forum to display from admincp>options or be clearly noted what bit to alter in the code.... Should be able to choose how many of the most recent threads from that forum to display in the admincp>options or be clearly noted what bit to alter in the code.. 2: Choose specific forum to tie article comments to. Benifits: As of now vbulletin only allows you to tie ALL articles to 1 forum causing members to have to jump around all over the site to find other related information. This mod would help those of us who like to keep our sites organized. Note: You can bypass this if you are an admin by moving the thread to the forum you want the article in after publishing but for members who can post articles but not move threads is where the issue is. 3. Ability for members to upload videos to your site and maintain a "user videos" page for their videos. Now I realize some of you may not want to incur the increased costs for bandwidth due to hosting videos on your site but this would be a nice option. I have seen several mods on here for videos but none of them that I have read state they contain this ability Notes: Users should now have access to a "Users Videos" or "Members Videos" or just "Videos" if you prefer, tab on their profile where they can upload new videos easily and other members can view them. Users Should be able to post comments on the Videos. Basically youtube for your site. LOL 4. Display related social groups widget. Benifits: sites with multiple sections could display the social groups that are related to that section. If you are like me and have multiple social groups that are involved with some aspect of a particular section on your site this would be great. Notes: how Social groups are chosen should be tied to the social group category their social group is tied to. so yes you would have to set up your social group categories for this to work. It should be clearly shown where to place the social group category in the code to choose which social groups will be shown in the widget. Please understand I am not a coder but am in the process of learning how to be and do realize that coding is not always an easy task. Please forgive me if anything in this post appears like I am telling you how to do your job things that may appear this way are only because I have seen so many codes lacking this type of necessary information or functionality. There are so many codes on this site that it can feel overwhelming for some of us and searching does not always yield the results you are looking for even thou it may be on here but listed in a way you may of not thought of. So Please if you know of an existing Code that meets any of these suggested ones PLEASE DO NOT hesitate to post them!!! |
