Upgrade to vb4 - is this possible?
Hi all,
Is it possible to do the following... I have already upgraded a copy of my site in a different directory... i.e. my normal vb version 3.8 resides in the 'forum' directory and I copied everything and made a copy of the database and configured a copy of the entire site in a 'newsite' directory.... so what I am asking is as I did all of this several days ago the data on my 'newsite' is obviously out of date but I have made adjustments to all the templates in the newsite as that is running vb4.0.4 is it possible to close the live site, backup the database, make a copy of it and configure the newsite to use it and then just run the upgrade again therefore keeping the template mods etc that I have already made? Or do I have to do everything again? |

yes it's possible
close you site just backup your "live" database (better keep a backup on your hard disk) change your config.php database name, username etc.. to connect to the "live" one disable all products/mods from your Admin CP better to set the default style as your site style too then run your upgrade just the way you did when you upgraded the outdated database all should be okay. Good luck. |

It automatically sets to vB4 default style after a succesful upgrade and or fresh install.
