Default Is there an IP address mod?
I'm specifically looking for a mod that converts all IP addresses to a physical location and displays it in all posts for members allowed to view IP. Also would like the physical location of the last IP address used to be displayed in a user's profile.

This doesn't put the physical location in the post but ads a link so you can get the physical location easy enough, among other info:

Well I don't mind giving a member the tools to find the physical location of IP address, but I'm looking for something that shows the possible physical location so I don't have to show the IP address of each member.

PHP Board have a script like that to display the person's country based on their IP address. That's exactly what I'm looking for.

Ahh... usually IP addresses are hidden to regular users so I didn't get what you were asking... yeah I haven't seen anything like that. I'm shocked your users don't complain about their IP's being public.

Well the IP address isn't public. After members pass a minor background check, they're placed in another usergroup who can see the IP addresses of other members. I run a trading a forum so I wanted users to know right away whether some guy from China is impersonating someone from the US with intention to scam. But yes like you mentioned, I'd prefer not to give out IP addresses at all.

So I'm looking for a mod that does 1 of the 3 things:
1. Display the country of the member based on IP address and not show the IP address in public.
2. A button for members to click that will take you to another website and display the country based on IP address, but again not actually show the IP address.
3. Only show IP adddress for people on your contact list.

Just a little warning, someone could easily use a proxy in the country they are trying to impersonate and make it look like they are in the US and they could actually be in China.

One one of my PHPFox sites (it's like a Myspace clone script) I have gone ahead and banned every proxy I have come across to try to beat them to the punch but there are new ones coming online each day so it's a never ending battle.
