This paticular coder "Coroner" seems to be not visiting this site anymore

I need something like this hack

Or the Modifications Addon on this site, but, modified a bit for my needs, Mainly the Donate button that you use here that applies to individual user accounts.

I'm willing to pay, and have posted in the paid hacks forum, but, I am not getting great results at the moment.

Is there anyway I can get this hack modified, or the person that coded the one on this site to modify the one used here for my needs?

What vB version do you use? One designed for 4.0.0 should also work in any 4.0.x version.

I'm running vb 4.0.2 at the moment

I want this hack, but, I need it modified, I can't use it for what I want as is.

After reading and viewing your site I think I see what you need.


I think what you really need is a hack that adds to the read more link, since thats going to be the starting place for your buy now to read more setup.

Do in other words where it says read more... it could say Donate to read more.... then when they hit that button it would direct them to paypal where they donate. then they could be redirected back to the forums with a password for that forum.

the trouble with this or any method is that if you are paying people, they all have to setup paypal API to redirect or authorize this purchase in any way, so they would have to first have an account and then at least be able to modify the API code so that the redirection can occur. a hack might be able to direct them to paypal but it still has to be setup in paypal per account. as do any mod coders do in the setup your talking about. VB.ORG type

the hack doesnt even come close to transactions its a donate or not setup, it doesnt stop you from doing anything.
you can still download or read code or write a post. which goes to the reply to thread button, are replys going to be
something you want or is the article just to be read. will a closed thread be displayed? so much more has to occur than this mod can do.

Im not saying it cant be done. Im just saying there may be an easier way to get what you want
I see you run ABadvanced how about custom static html pages that paypal just directs people to when they pay :>

You post is very informative.

I have a coder looking into the problems you have mentioned, manily the redirects and how to tell vbulletin that the payment has been made, via this redirect.

He noted like you did that the author of the article will have to set up a custom confirmation page at paypal, so he is reading up on that now. He will be giving me instructions that I will post on my site for authors to do.

The reason I like this Mod in paticular is that it has the extra things in it that would need to be modified via phrases, like "vbVersion", "Mod of the month" Which I want changed to "Technology", i.e. Microsoft, Cisco, Novell, Yada Yada, and "Article of the Month" And "Tagged, Downloaded, Installed" modified to "Tagged, Donated or Paid, and Read".

I'm very interested in the custom page you are talking about using vbadvanced or maybe this one as i use it too.

I'll mention it to the coder that is looking into this.

the phrases could be changed problem simply using VB to rewrite them using the renaming system in styles and templates. so thats actually the easy part .
