On my site, users have multiple personalities (one for poster, another for mod, and even another for admin) that right now they are using multiple accounts to maintain. I'd like to consolidate these accounts and merge them, and instead, find a way for users to select (at the time of posting) from a pull-down a list of "personalities" or "display names" that they have associated with their account, to appear alongside the particular post they are making.
Does anyone have any insight on any mods that do something like this? I was initially thinking a subtitle or other mod that would add information to a post, rather than pull information from a profile (since the information would be unique per-post). Any thoughts/perspectives that you have would be much appreciated! |

what you're looking to do would be extremely difficult to code since vbulletin by it's nature doesn't allow users to switch accounts once ogged in. There was a mod back for version 3.5 (i think) that allowed a loggedin user to switch accounts, or post as another user) but cant remember it's name.

I think you misunderstand. Quick Account Switch ("QAS") is very easy to do, but that's not what I'm looking for.
Basically, I'm looking for another field to be inserted when a user makes a post, and allow this field to be referenced in the body of the post. Kind of like a second title, or a sub-title, but instead, a user would type in the name of the personality that they are using (or, more ideally, select from a pull-down list of already-defined personalities in their User CP). They would still be using a single account for all of their posting, they would just be providing additional information when they post. Does that make sense? |
