DB switch?
Hi,
I'm working on a forum with version 3.8 , the live site right now. = forum/ I made a copy to forum2/ to test and upgrade to version 4.0.2 forum2/ copy is working out well, is it possible to simply switch the db of forum2 to forum1's and run the upgrade script? Will it call out the db upgrade automatically or will I encounter problems? |

If you want to keep the same URL you should upload the vBulletin 4 files as you normally would during an upgrade, excluding a new config.php (as it has not changed). Once done, run the upgrade script and you should be on your way. Remember, always back up before upgrading!

No, by "switching" your database, you leave /forum/ open, while running an upgrade script within /forum2/. This could damage your database by not providing all information a vBulletin 4 database would be required.
