Need Help installing Google analytics HTML into VB
I want to add Google Analytics tracking to our site http://forum.legendaryfordmagazine.com/forums.php
We're running VB 3.8 Where would the html need to be installed to do general site tracking. We are producing an online magazine and are about to start selling banner ads and so would-be advertisers are asking about "hits". A friend told me that the Google program would be very useful for this. I've set up the account on Google and have the html info to install, but don't know where to put it (or how to) in VB. Any idears? Jeff |

The tracking code goes in the forumhome, forumdisplay, and showthread page templates right above the </body> tag at the end.
You can place said code anywhere on your templates. |

Why not just put it in footer?
(I didn't see any edits, so if you had asked "How do I add Analytics to only track views to ForumHome, Showthread and Forumdisplay?", I missed it.) Doing what has been suggested will only track views to those pages. You probably have lots of other pages that you might want to track. *edit* Yeah. You want to show total hits to your entire site, and you have been told to implement tracking on a portion of your site. If you want to show hits to all parts, add to footer. |

Adding it in the footer doesn't help imo. Google tells you to put it above the </body> tag, which doesn't count as the footer. If you wanted to help, you should have posted before me. |

Woah,
I appreciate both of you doing what you've done so far! Spey, why would it be that The Analytics would not show users coming in since installation ( the Analytics software give me a checkmark in the ? If they hit the forum main page (http://forum.legendaryfordmagazine.com/forums.php) wouldn't they register as a "hit" to the main page? Also, I have a cmps page (http://forum.legendaryfordmagazine.com). That is actually the page that Analytics has as the "website profile". Where would I need to put the info if I wanted it to look at the http://forum.legendaryfordmagazine.com/forums.php page for visitor hits? Most of my regulars never hit the main page. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. JEff |

Unfortunately I haven't yet mastered replying to threads I haven't yet seen whilst I am sleeping, so you'll have to forgive me.
A question, seeing as you are so knowledgeable on these things - how does following your suggestion allow people to utilise the Registration Funnel? Also, it doesn't HAVE to be DIRECTLY before the </body> tag. Check the source of any of the sites in my sig. All track perfectly fine without it being exactly there. Honestly, you give advice that's close to being correct, all over the place, but it's not quite right. |

Try not to irritate me, some users know what happens if I'm irritated. |
