Keeping track of advertisers ?

For you all who charge to advertise on your forum, how (software, etc) do you keep track of there current status? I had a idea of using the subscriptions and moving into a "vendor" area since I don't use the subscriptions for normal members.

Looking forward to your thoughts/opinions.
