Gay Porn Spam Attack
Hi everyone,
Got hit with a pretty massive spam attack today. A bot (seemingly) posted 250 "gay porn" spam threads. The links were all going to threads in other forums that got attacked, though. I banned a wide range of IPs in Spain (Telefonica) to prevent any short-term follow-ups, but I'm wondering if any of you know of this type of attack? Are there things I should generally do to prevent it? e.g. nofollow links, etc? Thanks. |

I can reccomend the Stop Forum Spam mod
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=230921 Stops all known usernames (best not to filter by name though), IP addresses and email addresses listed at www.stopforumspam.com from registering. Haven't had a single bot register after installing the mod. Blocks 3-5 bots every day. |

Moderate user registrations. install numerous stop spam mods.
Or have a banner on your forum " No Gays Allowed " and they won't register |
