Can Brightcove Videos be embedded in Vbulletin?
Hi all,
I had a question about the Brightcove video platform. I know Vbulletin is able to embed Youtube, Vimeo, DailyMotion and many others, but was wondering......can videos on the Brightcove platform also be embedded in threads? What would this entail? Can a custom BB code be written for this? I tried, but was unsuccessful -- though I should be honest, my BB code skills are not that great. I also tried the AME mod, which is an excellent mod and works well for many sites, but Brightcove didn't seem to work with that mod either. So, is this possible? And if so, how would one go about doing so? It seems a lot of government agencies and politics in general are using the Brightcove player now, so it would be fantastic if some of these videos could be posted in a Vbulletin forum. Many, many thanks in advance to anyone who can help. I really appreciate it. |

For $100 a month you would expect them to write embeds, forum blocks, and widgets for you.

Brightcove does have an embed code that I guess you can use to embed with HTML, but I don't plan on turning HTML on in forums lol. A BB code would be preferable, although I have considered just letting admins and some mods use HTML for this reason. There is a lot of content on Brightcove that i'd like to embed in my forums. Anybody have other suggestions? It's much appreciated. BTW, Videx, you helped me with a style issue i had on the home page (trying to change the "by {username} text in articles) a couple weeks ago. Forgot to mention it in the thread, and doesn't make sense to bump it now just for that but I wanted you to know....your suggestion worked, thanks for that help. |

I know nothing about Brightcove except what a quick web search turned up. On the front page of their website it says the express edition is available for $99/mo. I just assumed that's the cheapest one. You may know more about it, but to me it seems to be a video publishing service, not a public format like Flash or h264 which use their own players.
I don't remember the style question but I'm glad you figured it out. Sometimes I don't really know an answer, but prodding people to look at the problem again can get them to fix it themselves. |
