Default CMS at root...forums in sub?

Any way to do this? I've asked at vb.com days ago...even bumped the thread a few times...but it seems their customer support has been declining lately.

I have vba at root. I have forums in the forums sub. I want to switch to the CMS suite.

Did I waste my money in upgrading to the suite?

I'm going to hazard a guess that the reason you never got an answer at vb.com is because it's been asked and answered so many times already everyone was just disgusted that you didn't search for it before asking and bumping.

Searched. Didn't find anything.

vb community has gone to shit. Used to be one of the most active, friendly and helpful.

I dunno. Took me maybe 30 seconds to find this just now. Reason I'm interested is because I'll be doing this myself eventually.
Switching URL of forum/CMS from "/forum" to root of domain

I have found a huge number of Topics related to this problem, and none gave me the right answer. Not even the quick answers i read up there...

So i guess it's just a common sense request whick keeps unanswered.

I have read i had to edit the index.php but what should i edit ?

My user won't type http://www.example.com/content.php this is crazy, i would like content in http://www.example.com

Please could someone explain how to fix this ? I'd appreciate your help, thank you very much...

kind of at the end of this conversation, but if you have content.php renamed to index.php and its the only index.php in your root directory. when anyone use the url/http://example.com that is the page that will be called

and if anything it should look like http://example.com/index.php

you have vba, and want content.php, are you going to get rid of vba?.
if so then just get rid of their vbcms_index.php..renamed index.php and rename content.php index.php, and rename it in content management to index.php frmo content.php

hehe i dunno

Thanks for you answer. I tried but it didn't help. I renamed content.php to index.php and uploaded but for the Unregistered user, it keeps redirecting
http://www.example.com/ to http://www.example.com/content/

So basically there is nothing for the Unregistered at http://www.example.com/

It is kind of strange because as an Admin i get no redirection and i have the CMS at http://www.example.com/ ... Double checked the permissions of course.

I'm so confused, this is 4.0.3 vanilla

this could be a cookie issue because the person hasn't logged in and if they don't have full permissions to view content, php they wont see anything but a login screen anyways.

so unless the cms is set to allow all users to see it, and that can be a trick in its self. you have to set permissions in the user group and in the actual articles i think and you may also have to mask the group. I have it set up on mine so anyone can see it but its been a while since i did it so i cant remember how i did it :>

oh yes then the articles also have to be published.

but your right they should at least be seeing the sorry screen not really sure of what the problem is do they see content.php or is it just a cosmetic thing where you just want your root url to show not a file added to it ?

To me this is not a cosmetic thing, the root should be the site entrance because that's my canonical URL and the one i am going to share, but i keep being redirected to http://www.example.com/content/

In fact the CMS displays well for the Unregistered but in /content/

This is really already set for all users to see. (I have found this which may prove useful to some) but for me it doesn't fix the problem.

Maybe this is a setting for the Home section, i am going to search about this (unless someone comes up with a solution here )

on my site they both lead to the same place, if you hit a link to http://www.harleydavidsonpartsforum.com
or
http://www.harleydavidsonpartsforum.com/content.php
both take you to content.php, but if you come in on
http://www.harleydavidsonpartsforum.com
then say go to forum and then click my home tab. it shows the
http://www.harleydavidsonpartsforum.com/content.php

lol i dont know

have you disabled VBA?

try renamed vba index back to /cmps_index.php, if you have it as index.php
