well aside from the amounts of ads... you did an "ok" job , needs work, i think its very simple.. and old styled , but thats my view ...

to be honest, i would do a lot , first starting with a nice clean header, nice navigation and what not... check out google and search for CSS templates , maybe you;ll get a good idea.

that and you should clean out some of those adds. there are just so many adds it deterrs from the content.
