Gallery suggestions for vB4.0.1?
The person who originally set up the vB forum for our website 2 years ago used PhotoPost vBGallery 2.4, which does not appear to be compatible with vB4. So, I am looking for some other options for us to store our photos.
Also, I have a feeling that users were/are not using this gallery due to some limitations. I'm finding that very few of our users have the time/ability/inclination of resizing photos before uploading. It also appeared that people were unable to upload more than a few images at a time. As a result, the gallery part of our site is a ghost town. Does anyone know of any gallery software that: Allows users to upload their photos to the gallery without them having to resize them? IOW, an auto-resizing option that works within the bounds of vB4? The ability to do mass uploads, easily (we have users that are computer novices). Customizable categories that I (admin) can set up, as well as member galleries. Any recommendations based on your experiences would be most welcome! --------------- Added [DATE]1266633113[/DATE] at [TIME]1266633113[/TIME] --------------- Did some searching around and found Coppermine and Gallery as popular galleries that folks are using for their websites. Does anyone here use either one of these? Do you like what you picked? Pros/Cons? Words of wisdom? Thanks |

photopost has stated on their forum that they will release a vb4 compatible version.
vbgallery automaticly resizes images, so something must be wrong in your setup if it doesn't. |

As said before vbgallery should be soon available for vb4 and has all features you asked for. Maybe you should play around a bit to find all options you didn't found yet.
Another way could be if your license is expired to renew and convert to photopost pp pro gallery, it's already available for vb 4. Or you could try out Ultimate Media Gallery (english version is available). |

Like I said, I was not the person who originally installed the vbgallery, it was already on the site, so I am coming into someone else's work blind. It never could resize images, so I am sure either something was wrong or he did not enable that capability. I'll try to get in touch with the person who originally set this up, but he's hard to get in touch with.
In upgrading my forum to 4.0.1, the version of vbgallery I have is incompatible, so I can't really play around with it. I'll have to see when photopost is coming out with their new version...hope it's soon... I was hoping someone who's used Coppermine and Gallery to chime in with their experiences, as those are some other options I found. Just looking for some real-world feedback... |

Before i bought vBgallery i installed both Gallery and coppermine, and i found them both too hard to integrate properly with my web-page style, sharing user database, and my other needs. So vBgallery both look good, was an easy choise because of less work, and is much more "out of the box" compatible with vbulletin than the other alternatives.
I am sure giving photopost time to release the update will pay off for you, instead of going for one of the other alternatives. |

If you are using 4.0.1 its best to upgrade to 4.0.2 PL1
