Variable for unread pms?

Does anyone know the code to output the number of unread messages someone has?

For example I know total notifications is {vb:raw notifications_total} - is there something like {vb:raw pmunread_total}?

In vb 3.8 I just put.... $vbphrase[unread_x_nav_compiled]

This won't work now of course - so is there another way?

Is there a manual somewhere?
