Default Anyone interested in sharing a dedicated server?

Hi

I have had my forum for around 5 years now and it has so many threads in it, since it's a serious forum the data is very valuable to me so I can't just remove the old threats.

I have had to move from host to host because of cpu overheads. They have all told me I need to upgrade to a dedicated server.

My forum does not have many users (around 3000) and it's not making any money so I can't afford to pay that much money for a dedicated server.

My highest cpu usage for showthread.php has been 4%, my host allows 1% max.

I figure if I find 10 more people who would have similar circumstances, we could get a dedicated host for 99.0$ per month, it would be 9.0$ each and we would all get awesome hosting service that you can't get on any other shared hosting account.

Also if you have your own dedicated server and you feel like you are wasting your time I'd be interested to share your dedicated server and pay you some money for it.

Anyone interested?

Why not try a VPS server with a company like URLJet who specialize in vBulletin hosting.\

Heck maybe even their shared hosting will work for you since they generally utilize technology thats less server intensive with vBulletin.

That is actually a good suggestion
How do I know they are not gonna suspend my account for cpu overhead?, what are some of the examples of sites being hosted by them, my DB is around 500 MB right now will I be able to use their 25.00$ per motnh service?

So far I have tried siteground which was absolute garbage
And Lunarpages which was pretty decent and had good customer support

That's plan B, it's where I will drink the hemlock

I can't consider the option of removing old stuff because as I said my forum is a pretty serious website it's not like old threads are useless.

I would love to convert my old threads into html files that don't need database storage, but as I researched I could not find any tool that would do that.

It's always amazed me that the vb prune doesn't offer any option except 'delete'. How hard would it be to instead offload the pruned posts to a text, html, or xml file? I understand this would require a separate search function, but I'd really only like to keep the old stuff around for historical purposes. Maybe just let people download the whole file if they want to research old posts.

Yeah that's exactly what I'm looking for, It make life way more interesting.

You know you can use httrack or software that download websites to do that. but it's not very easy.

I have disabled the search function I think google searches my forum way better than the search function.

What I am currently doing is this

I downloaded all my website, installed it on a local computer, edited hosts in windows so that I can run my own forum on my own computer.

Installed SEO plugins so that all files look like html

Removed all unnecessary buttons and stuff

Now I'm downloading all my forum using httrack software,
after it's done I'm gonna have all my old forum as html files, I will upload that on my website

now I will remove all the threads in vbulletin and it will work faster like a new forum
