Too many sql connection probelm

I have HostGator as a web hosting company. My site with 1800 members with about 200 or so on daily, get an email stating I have maxed out the allowed 25 concurrent mysql connections. According to HostGators support, this should not be happening with my forums. They are stating there must be something installed on the board causing this. How would I go about figuring out what program is not closing out correctly and causing the issue? It only happens once or twice a month so I cannot disable each mod to figure it out. Any ideas on this?

Disable all your hacks and go through all of them one by one

If that still doesn't work, ask the host to increase the max_user_connections variable.

Like I said, sometimes its only once a month. It would take 2 years to figure it out.

Hostgator will not up their 25 max concurrent connections.

No wonder you are getting these errors. Too many hacks are creating connections.

Maximum 25 connection just is not much.

I doubt the number of modifications installed has much of an influence as most of these will be re-using the connection already opened by vBulletin.

These are all mods we use on the site. The disabled ones are ones I just havent had time to fully uninstall.

Well its more then enough for a shared hosting.

Allot of people here say 25 connection is to low, or the provider doesn't raise limit, etc. But from what I know im sure they are probably on a shared 10$ a month plan.

MySQL uses allot of ram. People always want a full server for 5$ a bucks a month. Im being there and done that. If you are paying a shared hosting account, its not made for heavy traffic boards/forums.

I also think the plugins you have are abusive if you really are on shared host, and they are probably causing the connection. You may have it now 2 twice a month but if your traffic increase you will have it more and more. I suggest to move to a VPS account.
