I have a site at www.brotherhoodofgamers.com and I want to somehow have my members show which games they have or own.

For example..

In their profile settings or edit details or somewhere... they choose from a bullet list and check off which games they have, and then in their profile on a side block it shows in small icons which games they own and in posbit legacy as well.

I'm guessing this has to do with user profile fields?

How would I go about doing this? or is a mod for this necessary?

Yep, check this out in the manual - Custom Profile Fields and then there are articles in the articles forums to show how to display those fields in the postbit(_legacy) templates.
