Moving/Copying entire vB
Let's say I have a vB 3.8 running on www.abc.com. I want to take an exact copy of this vBulletin and place it on www.abc123.com for testing purposes so that I can try to install some customizations on it. How would I go about doing that?
Do I copy the files over, then take a copy of the database? Is the original vB only going to run on the domain it was installed on? |

I know you can run the forums on more than one site, But vb does look down at this. I dont thinks its a big deal when its on the domain name. You could always make a sub domain and install them on there.
But what you do is you would install vb again because none of the files change its all in the database, Besides your config.php make to bring that over. but use a diff database when you install or i think you will overwrite the old one. Then go to your php my admin and find your database of the old forum and get a copy of all the tables for your from, Then you go to the new db and import the tables in. I believe. Not 100% sure. |
