I've noticed a lot of guests that are known forum spammers like "dsl212-235-107-91.bb.netvision.net.il" that fill up my "current users".
I know how to block the IP addresses, but how would I block something like that so that they can't just suck up bandwidth? Another that seems to live on my guest list is: "spider74.yandex.ru" |

dsl212-235-107-91.bb.netvision.net.il = 212.235.107.91
ping results for spider74.yandex.ru = 87.250.253.243 As netvision leases 212.235.106.0 - 212.235.107.255 You can ban the entire blocks if you want: 212.235.106 212.235.107 Yandex leases that entire block also: 87.250.253 |

the /correct/ way to do it is to use a whois lookup; you can then whois the ip to figure out the range of ips owned by the same person. if the cidr is 24,16 or 8 you can block it using the admin cp specifically using the first (for 8) first two (for 16) or first three (for 24) If you need any more accuracy, look into my advanced ip ban manager.

I've added both "spider74.yandex.ru" and "87.250." to the blocked IP's and it's not working. That spider is on my site 24/7.
Any ideas how I can block this bot? It just sits that day after day scanning every post on my site. It's a Florida Travel Site. I don't need Russians sitting on it 24/7. Thanks! |
