| IIS and Gameservers

Hey People, as i have read often, apache2 and gameservers do not like each other ;p So, better to have web and gameserver-root split in 2. Now i want to switch from my linux vServer to a Windows Root-Server. How about IIS and Gameservers? Is it possible (and good) to run IIS and Gameservers on one machine (Core2Duo)? Greetings SeToY |

You'll have no problems. I run webserver and gameserver on the same IIS box.

So, you would suggest me running a windows rootserver? And - of course - you would say that running a Windows Webserver (IIS) and Gameservers would work perfectly? |

You could better ask this question at a site aiming at gaming or hosting.

I personally wouldn't suggest running windows servers at all... As for linux and game servers apache plays ball perfectly fine with them; just make sure that the gameservers don't listen on port 80/443 and you'll be fine. Better yet get a secondary ip address from your host and use that for your game servers. If you need any assistance with the linux side of it; i'm currently running 4 l4d2 servers on my machine without issue, so can give you some pointers if you need 'em |
