[Navbar] change tab height without affecting floatcontainer height below it.
When I change the navbar tab height in the stylevar system it also changes the height of the 'floatcontainer' below it. (the bit with the 'New Posts, Private Messages, FAQ, Calendar, Community, Forum Actions, Quick Links in it) I would like to make the tab height considerably taller so I can look at putting images below the words in the tabs, but when I do this the container below just looks silly because it's so big also. I would like to keep the container the default size but still make the tabs taller.
I had a look at the CCS with firebug and tried a bit of trial and error with related things, but I'm just not good enough with CSS to understand what I need to change. I think it's something to do with a div that contains the search box .globalsearch but when I alter things to do with that it either does nothing (probably because I'm doing it wrong) or it makes the search box jump out of the confines of the navbar. The stylevar for the tab height seems to be used in several places in the css for different things, and used in combination with vb math tags to work out sizes of things. I would like to just find a CSS value for the container that I can change from the tab height style var into a hard coded height, but I guess it's not that simple. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks. |

That's not the "float container" you're talking about, I believe that's the selected tab's "subtab set". The float container is the drop down menu (for notifications and the like), is it not?
Anyway... The height of what you're talking about governed by the "line-height" property in the "advanced search" area. Edit the the vbulletin-chrome.css template and make the changes in red: vbulletin-chrome.css Code:
.navbar_advanced_search li a { text-decoration:none; font:{vb:stylevar navbar_font}; /*line-height: {vb:stylevar navbar_tab_size.height}px;*/ line-height: 26px; } @vbstaff - this might be considered a bug, as altering the line-height of the advanced search link (to be whatever navbar_tab_size.height is) moves the text of the whole subtab group down (which can sometimes be behind the drop down "notification-style" menus rather than being in their proper place above them). Either the line-height needs to be set relative to the font size of this subtab group or set to a static 26px so as not to interfere with drop down menus. |
