I am writing to see if making a modification to run your cms on your main domain (www.example.com) and then running your forums on a subdomain is possible.

I know straight out of the box is isn't doable but would a hack be possible or is there no chance of that too?

There is no current way to do this without modding the site's index.file or the config.php forgot which one.
