Recreate deleted thread number??
I have a thread that was heavily linked to on my forums that was hard deleted (long story).
Now all those links go to the "invalid thread" page. I was able to (from a DB backup restored onto a test forum) get the contents of the main post, which is the only one I care about, but is it possible to create a new thread in the old thread's location (thread number?) This is reeeeeally important to me... as this thread brought more traffic to my site than nearly anything else! |

You would have to alter the database manually to change the thread id and then change the parentid for the post.

Are those the only two places in the DB I would need to edit?

I think so. I am assuming we are talking about one thread with one post. And, assuming you don't need that one post listed as the Last Post on any forumdisplay page. And, assuming you have no poll and no votes on it and no tags... nothing but one simple post in one little thread.

YOU ROCK!
I was able to change the thread ID of the thread, and the thread ID of the posts in the thread on my test site, and it all worked PERFECTLY! Backing up my prod DB now, and I'm going to try it for real. Wish me luck! AND THANK YOU!!! --------------- Added [DATE]1258480090[/DATE] at [TIME]1258480090[/TIME] --------------- OK. I made the DB edits in the THREAD table (changing the thread ID of the new thread with the copypasta post from the restore to the old thread ID #) and in the post table (changing the thread ID of the posts that had the old thread ID). Should I do any index rebuilds in adminCP before I make the forums available again? |
