Pre-Sale offer for customers with expired licenses
Due to an overwhelming response and interest in the pre-sale event for vBulletin 4.0 Publishing Suite, we've decided to extend an offer to those customers with inactive licenses.
For licenses that expired in the last 12 months, we are offering an extra $45 discount for advance ordering, in addition to the publicly available pre-sale savings of $50. This means the all new vB 4.0 Publishing Suite will cost you only $190, a total savings of $95. For licenses that expired more than 12 month ago, we are offering an extra $25 discount for advance ordering, in addition to the publicly available pre-sale savings of $50. This means the all new vB 4.0 Publishing Suite will cost you only $210, a total savings of $75. These limited time offers expire on October 30, 2009. Beginning on October 31, the price will be $285. You will be able to take advantage of this offer in the next couple of days - we are currently working to make it an option in your shopping cart. We will notify you once this offer is live on the website. More... |

Overwhelming response? Or maybe not enough response. That's usually the case of why a "cough" "sale" gets extended.

I don't think he means "overwhelming response" as in "a large number of people bought it". I think it's more a reference to the large number of threads and the even larger number of people complaining loudly about the sudden change in licensing and the extremely limited notice (2 weeks).

Huge amount of complaints over at vB.com. With the new license agreement for 4.0 I've decided to drop vBulletin. I know a few people that's doing the same.

just went to the upgrade option on the pre order bit and you can only upgrade a leased 3.8 forum to the publishing suite and not just the 4.0 forum
any ideas if this will be changing in the future? |

This is a portion of the VB email I rec'd from them. So I'm I reading this correctly? When my license experinced with 4.0 and they've upgraded, I have to purchase the entire upgraded serious again? I'm probably not reading it right am I?
"You have the option to keep your current active license until it expires (according to the 12 month term and conditions). For the remainder of your active license, you will continue to receive support and have access to forum software updates, including vBulletin 4.0 Forums. Once your license expires you will only be able to access the 4 Series software updates by switching to the new one-time owned license. For more information, visit the vBulletin FAQ." |

amusing "sale". what about peoples whose license expired a little over a week ago and they didnt renew it yet because vb 4 happened to be in alpha a couple of days ago so they didnt figure a renewal would be needed or would cost 3 times the regular renewal fee? o right forgot jelsoft is trying to screw us without buying the roses first.
