Default Need advise for an issue I caused tonight

Ok, I have a site that before tonight had 260k members, 1.7 millions posts, and about 200k threads. It is a combination of about 3-4 forums that I run that I had merged all together about a year ago. I decided to merge another one of my boards into it tonight as well. I started to use implex and ran into a problem and clicked the wrong option to restore. It ended up deleting imported data from my last import instead of the current import. Not sure why, but I screwed the pooch here. I lost 200-300k posts, some users, and some forums. In addition, there are what I estimate to be 100k-150k abandoned posts now since their forum was waxed off. I didn't run the delete abandoned because I want those threads and posts back bad.

I was pretty stupid jumping in and didn't do what I should have by testing on a backup 1st. I know this and now I am feeling the pain of why you SHOULD do everything carefully. To compound the stupidity, my autobackups haven't been backing up the right tables and the back up of the database that I did tonight prior to starting is not working either.

To try to get part of the data back, I am reimporting the last import that I figured out the data that was missing came from. 36k users and 200k posts. I am hoping that this will get my forums back that the orphaned threads are looking for. The issue is that I am unsure if an imported forum uses a brand new forum ID that is next in the list or if it will use the forum ID it has in the other install. I am guessing it will be a new ID though, which doesn't help my problem with orphaned threads.

So, if that is the case...
Is there a way to change the forum ID manually in the DB to reflect the old ID?
Is there any scripts out there that can query the orphans and allow me to assign them to another category?

I am going to try over the next couple days to see what I can do, but I might look into some professional help if I can't get it going right.

I am confident that the import I am doing right now will bring 200k or so of the posts that were deleted back, older posts beyond the year since I 1st imported this db, but I am concerned about the 1 year worth of new threads that I think are orphaned.

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any advice. I am going to post this on .com too.
