We would like to know the maximum number of messages
Hello,
We would like to know the maximum number of messages to be posted on every one of the threads so that we would not have performance problems. We are closing the threads when the number of messages reach to 1000; and opening a new thread. And this becomes rather demanding for us. Could we have your advices about this matter? |

its unlimited. Unless you have it set to display 1000 messages per page, the thread only calls 1 page at a time so if its 30 messages or 3000, the load is the same when someone opens a thread.

I have a popular thread on my site with over 77,000 replies. No one has ever complained about problems opening it. It's all up to your server and site on how large a thread may get before there are problems.

There's a limit, and a difference. Huge threads do indeed = load, but as Lynne says, it's server-specific. |
