Old file after database repair
Hello!
A frequent database error due to corruption of (MY post) table requires a repair of the entire database, as repairing the (post) table alone through the (phpMyAdmin) page never works out. After conducting the repair process via the webhosting control panel page, a message that says: (Old file. Allow to cancel repair) appears. I keep repeating the process of repair again and again, and in most of the cases I find no solution but restoring the database to the last backup! Any common reasons for that? Many thanks --------------- Added [DATE]1254082688[/DATE] at [TIME]1254082688[/TIME] --------------- Note: I noticed in more than one case that the occurance of such a problem is proceeded by a mal-posting of a topic or reply. In some cases, before the problem happens, I receive a message from one of my "trusted" users to fix a topic he recently added, and the problem begins when I try to open the link (topic) he sent to me as an administarive message on the admin e-mail. Does that help? |

Is anything showing up in the error_logs (if you don't know where they are, ask your host). Are any database errors occuring? You say repairing on the post table "never works out"... what does that mean?

Thanks for your time. Database errors have been occuring frequently, but they're considerably less frequent than before upgrading to 3.8.4. They're always in (corn), (post) and (datastore) tables (most frequently in "post" table), and none of these tables ever responds to optimization or repair processes "individually" on phpMyAdmin. Under the title (Type), all of the tables read (MyISAM), while the corrupted one reads (in use). I select the affected table, (check its box) choose to optimize or repair it, and this never "works out" (never solves the problem). I use the (Repair database) tool on my webhosting CP, as I said, and sometimes it fixes the issue, but most of the times I receive the message (Old file. Allow to cancel). I asked my host to provide information on (error_log). Regards |

Sometimes you need to run repair on a table more than once before it says the table is OK.
I don't know what this error is regarding Old File / Allow to Cancel. |
