How about a review of this new skin?

The Elite Gamers Forum got a new skin a couple of days ago. Could someone take a look at it and tell me what you think?

Its just a simple red and white combination, and with a real simple header logo.

They are using the same skin that I used for my gaming forum. They seem like a popular forum so if I used that skin, and they're using it, I guess that skin was a good choice

From experience, it's an EXCELLENT skin. The only things I can doubt about it is the logo, and the navigation bar is only capable of holding 6 boxs/links. I had to upgrade my skin because my breadcrums navbar was full, and I had more links to place. I ended up with using a web template and having to skin the forum in to it. It's near enough complete but I'm still fixing up some things.

The skin is also simple and easy to use, I'd defiantly recommend it. I would also like to affiliate with these people, who should I contact? Thanks kev.

Well yea, your forum is where I saw it at. I liked it so much I bought it for my forum.

After I bought the theme, I made some minor edits to the CSS to make the font color stand out a little more. With the default font color, the text blended into the background too much. I think it was a lite blue or something. I changed that to a shade of black.

Your never going to have a header that all gamers will like or be able to relate to. My solution was to have the site name for a header.

I feel like the skin and/or colors are very commonly used, along with a very common niche. And in a niche like this, I believe it is the uncommon, unconventional, unpredictable website that will rise.

I see new gaming forums made every day. Can't remember the last time I saw one made with a very modern and in-depth homepage, a few custom systems for their gamers to utilize, an amazing skin, and an assortment of game reviews. That to me is what would make an established gaming website.

One of the things that I have tried to bring to the site is a since of history and maturity. A lot of people that open gaming sites are young, they might be in their early 20, with less then 5 years online gaming experience.

I started online gaming back around 1995 or 1996 with Quakeworld, Diablo 1 and Command and Conquer Red Alert.

Heck, I remember riding my bicycle to the corner store with my buddies, buying a coke, and putting quarters into the arcade in the early 1980s. This was before a lot of "gamers" were ever born.

I fully understand what your saying by gaming sites being all over the place. But very few offer "quality" content. The ability to post that content only comes through experience and first hand knowledge.

Its impossible to buy a game like team fortress 2, and post a quality article on "Team Fortess" - because the author has no experience with other games in that field. Only if the author has played Quake world team fortress, team fortress classic, fortress forever and finally team fortress 2 can they offer a quality and experienced opinion.

And that is what I am seeing these days. Noobs buy a game, play it for 4 months and consider themselves experts in the field. When they have no real experienc outside of a single game.

My Review:
Its a pretty nice theme, easy to navigate, easy to use, but looks really stretched. and the navbar would look alot nicer if there was more then six links on top.

Suggestions:
- Get rid of view all albums and add a view users album mod to post bit.
- Add a gfx section and the Sig of the week mod( alot of gamers also like to use photoshop. and it gives the users more things to do.)
- adjust the sections so that it allows users to be able to talk about there favorite game much easier.
- make some custom pages for each of the most popular games.
- add a video gallery where people can upload there own videos.
- continue adding more games to the arcade
- subforums for some of the sections make it look like the website has lots of categories and still keeping a more professional look
- most people prefer when the post bit is on the side of the post.
- Add a award system so that users can show off what they have done on the website (like gotten 10 people to join the website, won contests, stuff like that, it gives users more to shoot for)
- if you know someone good with computers add a support section for people who have issues getting a game running. Helping them will get them to come back.
- when they register make it so they auto subscript to posts. it will keep them coming back when they make a post it lets them see that the forum is active.
- allow people to post there clan tags in post bit.
