Default One forum for multiple sites

Hi everyone,

I am creating a forum that I want to put on seperate subdomains.

For example, the forum will be about widgets, and I want each main forum to be on:

red.widgetforum.com
blue.widgetforum.com
green.widgetforum.com

as I want each one to be branded differently.

Can this be done with one copy of VBulletin, and have it as a stand alone, but if someone registers on red, that they can also log into blue and green? Basically, one forum spread out across multiple different subdomains.

Please let me know, thanks!

Mark

Currently, it sounds on the edge of breaking the License Agreement.

Branding it differently - that'll be the thing that makes it on the border line of breaking the LA. You'll want to check with vBulletin.com Pre-Sales on that.

Though, from previous information, I can give you this list, if you wish to continue to set it up the way you want:
  • The forums must be CLEARLY part of a main site.
eg: you do not appear to be running multiple instances of vBulletin.
  • You must not try to hide other sections of the website from view on different subdomains.

Perhaps an alternative option may be to have seperate "zones" accesible from the homepage. Red zone, blue zone etc. and specify different skins to display when a member goes to that section.

To the best of my knowledge, if you install vBulletin on a domain (or a sub-domain) it will count as a single installation. The only additional installation allowed under the LA is a (password-protected) test board which must not have public access.

The LA clearly states that a single licence is for a single instance of vB on a single domain.

As said by toonysnn, if this is unclear your best option would be to raise the question in pre-sales at vB.com

How about one database, multiple copies(aka 3 copies here)?

Please post on vBulletin.com for questions regarding licenses.
