Server load is different than mysql server going down - which is the problem? Is this your own server? If so, you should get it optimized over on vb.com.

The easiest way to check MySQL (without the hassle of posting pages and pages of server information publicly), is to download and run two very simple MySQL tuning scripts:

These scripts will work for most people. They work great for us.

MySQL issues can and do contribute directly to server load.

We currently see an occasional MySQL deadlock issue that sends our load average to the stratosphere I have seen MySQL issues drive server load from 1.4 to 100

Sure they can. But what I was saying is that server load problems can also be caused by so many other things too. I wanted clarification of the exact issue.
