I think it would be awesome if we were able to upload .swf flash files as our avatars....... This is the best feature of IkonBoards..... you can select flash animations as your avatar.... also when uploading picure attachments, you can have flash animations as well as pictures......
I dont care as much about posting flash animations in posts..... but I would really really like the ability to use flash avatars.. to see what I mean look here |

I dont know about avatars, but many flash avatars would slow down forums, and you can attatch .swf files

Well, I never looked at the flash stuff slowing down stuff.... so I guess you are right on that...... but If you attach a swf file, it would be cool if it showed the file.. instead of just having the link to it

Flash files won't slow down the forum any more than images will depending on the files.
If you control the size of the SWF file coming in (which VB does now for images and attachments) then this is a non issue... If the avatars are made by your users you may want to test them of course, as a somewhat knowledgeable user could code the SWF to pull in content from a remote webserver which could be a potential problem. |

I believe someone did this, though you would have to search for the thread. I believe the problem was using swf files & regular gif, jpgs. I think it could be one or the other.
