Server hardware recommendations
Hi there. I have to upgrade my server hardware and looking for recommendations.
Site is currently running vB 3.7 and most likely upgrading to 2.8 soon. Also running vBSEO. Site has 830,000 Posts and 28,000 Users. Usually between 300-500 current users. Would like to leave some room for growth. Maybe also run PhotoPost. Was also thinking of starting a 2nd vB community from scratch and after year or so of growth, move to its own server if needed. Was thinking of hosting with LiquidWeb and picking one of the dedicated server packages they have and leaning towards their "Professional" series. (I do not work or am not affiliated with LiquidWeb and have no current experience with them or recommendation for them) Can anyone recommend server specs for this setup? Any other recommendations or things to consider? Is a 7200 SATA drive ok or is money well spent upgrading the drive? |

As vb.org frowns upon ppl posting for this type of stuff and suggests posting at vb.com, ill still answer as i usually do anyways.
This only applies as you asked for "Room for growth" you'll have plenty!: CPU: 1 quad core RAM: 4GB Drive(s): 1 - 73gb SAS Backup Drive: 1 - 120GB 7200RPM SATA No control panel, if you aren't a Linux Admin, webmin & virtualmin are free, if you actually need one. OS: 64bit Webserver: Nginx Pay the setup fee and get the 320 a month price. |
