Default Admin but not Admin?

if I look at my "Administrator Permissions" in admincp, I see a user that isn't an in the admin group. I have no idea how he got there (it's not a problem), but I am trying to figure out how to give others limited admin-like abilities without setting them up under the administrator usergroup. Anyone know how to do this?

he must have screwed your with your account and have made him the admin

1st you should change your password
2ndly try to see if your forum is hacked in any way or not
3rdly ban that user and his ip address , he is probaly a hacker
4thly try to give mod rights and user rights to correct persons , choose your mods , smods and other mods like in my forum i have GFX Mod and Coder Mod all functions of mods

try to see what happened using your statistics account^^
Thanks.

the account is there intentionally. It's something I did in the past, I just can't remember how.

Make his secondary group Administrator, when you save you will be prompted to add admin permissions (the big red text).

That way you choose the admin permissions and the user still appears as a member, the same applies for primary usergroup.

but that's still giving him the administrator group. One of the users under the "Administrator Permissions" doesn't have any relation to the administrator usergroup. The reason I don't want to put them in the group is because my forums displays a graphic in the postbit per group, and this person isn't really an "administrator", I just need them to be able to change individuals user groups.

Make a new usergroup called "Admin2" or something like that, add no group icon and make it a usergroup with Admin CP access. Again you may be asked to specify the permissions of that usergroup.

If not, add the user to the Admin2 group, being that it is a group with admin permissions you will be prompted to control the permissions of that user.

Alright, I think that's what I did last time... Problem is, now, the admin permissions page doesn't update, so I can't see the new user. The usergroup he's in definitely has admincp access, though. Do I have to manually run an update script?

Check the usergroups for this other user that you already set up to have admin permissions and see if you already have a usergroup set up with admin permissions.

I did find the that the user in question had a secondary group with admin perms, but even after removing that secondary permission, he still shows up under the admin permissions list. I added a secondary admin group to another user and he isn't showing up on that list. It's like it's not being updated.

But did you click on the Administrator Permissions dropdown after you added him and then change his admin permissions?
