I'm extremely new to the forum website. I started with the help of a friend www.phillysportspulse.com . I'd really appreciate if you guys could check it out and tell me what you like ,what you dont like, and if there is anything you can think of that would help me give my members a better experience. I'm trying to have the forum feel like people are sitting around with a few beers just talking sports. I really appreciate all of your help.

The logo's pretty good, not that 'sporty' but pretty good, and personally I feel if you're gonna go for a fixed width logo, then your forum should be the same width too. I think you need to get more of a theme going across the whole site, as at the moment with the dark background/light content and different style icon sets it looks a bit all over the place. Nothing seems to match if you follow me. Not bad for a first attempt though

The logo isn't sporty at all - aside from the fact that it doesn't even match the width of your forum. You're dealing with a fluid style on a fixed header. The gradients (between your category and heading colors) do not match. I'm a bit hesitant with your color scheme overall actually.

In addition, your vBadvanced is 100% stock. Being a free product that is a bit overwhelming for many to use and customize, understand that you are portraying the same image as dozens of hundreds of others.

Great Job with the news feed though, way to get content up. I was quite amazed at your post to member ratio.

Thank you both for your input and I will make those changes to the forum. I really want to give the members a quality product. A place they can get all of their news and can share their views without getting harrassed. We have people come to the site but we are finding they dont join up because they dont have to. I have a few ideas that are new but I need to get some experience with programming.

Although the RSS feed gets content up, it is all bot content, which some people might not like

The header is ok if it was a philly chat site, but it is a sport site, need some sports stuff up there.

The colors I don't think really remind me of philly to much and the rest of the template is pretty much stock. Check out the sports link in my sig for some ideas.

I like the Talk Delaware site alot. would love to have a site that looked like that.

I hear ya on the bot content and what not - but content is content nonetheless. Definitely not a bad way to jump-start with search engines as well imo. But it's that unique content that'll nail it for you in the long run!

If and when you're ready, you can hire a vB Dev yourself and get your visions out. I saw you mention that you were trying to get the hang of customizing it yourself, just don't get too overwhelmed and remember you already have quite a bit to worry about! Unless of course you're a developer yourself.

LOL I have no experience with any computer code at all. I'm sure in the near future we will look to upgrade the look of the site.

It is not a VB3 engine, just a parsed copy!
