A portal system other than VBA CMPS
Hi everyone, I have an error with my current vba cmps so I disabled it. Can anyone suggest another portal system or help with my error? Thanks.
My Error: it seems that my left column suddenly changed from 175 to around 268 pixels. I havent touched the settings for 5 days and neither have my admins. I tried changing it back and nothing happened. Also the cmps_index.php has a loading cycle; the status of the index is always loading in the browser tab icon on mozilla firefox. Now when I try do access it doesn't even load so I have to use internet explorer. It loads, but the style error is still there. To fix the error, I tried upgrading to the latest version but nothing happened. Can anyone help me? Notes: i have a small piece of code on top of my index.php file so it is compatible with ibProArcade. Its been there for months so I put it in my new index.php from upgrading. I don't think that caused the error, but correct me if I'm wrong. Help would be GREATLY appreciated as this error causes guests to either see the style messed up or the page not loading. |

Sometimes columns will expand if you have placed some code in them for an advertisement and the advertisement picture extends out. Its really hard to tell what the problem might be without a link to your forum. As for the the continuous loading problem that could simply be that since you upgraded you possible may have simply missed a setting in your admincp VB CMPS area.
Some things to check: 1. Make sure that your index file for vb CMPS is named index.php only. rename it from the CMPS_index.php. Always check that in your vb CMPS admin panel that in the "Main Options: panel that this block "The full URL to your CMPS file (originally named cmps_index.php)." is set to /index.php ONLY. 2. If you have installed your CMPS to the same directory as your forum then you will need to check that you have renamed your index.php file from your vbulletin install to something else like portal.php or main.php something that is not already in your list of files and something that you can remember. Then check that you have changed your vb admin options accordingly. You will need to change your Forum Home Page Options to be sure to include your CMPS properly ONLY if you have uploaded & installed your CMPS into the forums directory. So look for "Script Name for Forum Home Page" and in the block put the name of the file you changed whether it was portal.php or main.php you must put the file name and leave off the extension or the .php part. 3. Make sure that you uploaded all the files into the right place. 4. Make sure that you ran the upgrade script for vb CMPS when you upgraded it. |

I currently disabled vba CMPS, so I think I will just reinstall it and check the things you mentioned. Thanks for the advice.

No problem, check back if you still have the problem.

You could try debugging it with Firebug, a firefox extension, it lets you hover over elements of a page and tells you their css values, including width.

I reinstalled CMPS and the style error is gone, however the load error is still there and I don't know how to debug.

If you have questions/problems with a modification or style, then please post in the thread (or support forum/board) about that modification/style. Best chance to receive a reply from either the author or another member using the same modification/style.
