Lock posts from editing?

Is there any way in vb to prevent a post from being edited by its author?

I'm aware of the prevent editing after x amount of time, but all I want to do is prevent a user from editing a post in a certain part of the forum.

phpbb has a standard mod control to do this.

Forum Permissions > find forum > select usergroup > Can Edit Own Posts > No
