Why aren't images showing up?

I logged on today to find that background images and banners as well as certain icons are not appearing [the whole forum is basically white because of it]. Nobody went into any of the folders.... so no settings were changed and no files were tampered with.
Anybody know what could have happened and/or how I can fix it?
