how can i make a mock up of my forums without actually touching the live one?

I want a side copy of my vbulletin forums.. so i can upgrade it from 3.7 to 3.8 to see if there are any real issues with the site and what not.

Have you checked the articles forums? I believe there is an article on how to do it. If it isn't here, I know there is one in the Tips forum over on vb.com
