How to add image & hyperlink to subforum category

I've tried to do this, but the field seems to be selective based on the amount of characters the code has.
Consider:
www.abc.com/1.jpg hyperlinked to www.123.com
would work rather than
www.onelongdomainname.com/onelongjpgname.jpg hyperlinked to www.anotherlongdomainname.com.

If it's possible, would someone show me how?
