Who you gonna call?

I have a thread I want moved. I looked at the staff page, and nears as I can tell the mods must be super moderators as they don't list specific forums they are in charge of.

Since I don't know who can do what, who should be my first line of contact for something like moving a thread from the coders area to the articles forum, by way of example?

Hit the Report this Post button and then any of the Mods can move the thread for you if they think it's appropriate.

You are correct. Both Senior Moderators & Moderators are "Super Mods".

Your best point of call (as mentioned by Lynne), is to report the first post of the thread - and so any moderator that happens to be online can move it (if necessary), instead of just a single moderator you contact.
