Removing / bypassing time on the calendar?

when you enter a reoccurring calendar event like a holiday or birthday VB makes you enter a beginning & ending time. TIME!! I should be able to enter april 1 reoccurring yearly but you can't you have the enter the beginning & ending time. for someone who never entered a date in the cal before, it's confusing.

has anyone come up with a work around for this. I'd be fine with completely removing time from the cal. I only want it for dates.
