is there a thumbnail addon for the built in gallery for 3.8?

I use to have a mod that would add 5 random thumbnails from the gallery i had installed. Im looking for something like that for the gallery that 3.8 comes pre packaged with. Is there something like that around? i didn't find it. Please help
