Default Limiting user power until X days and X posts? Limiting to X posts per X days.

Hello,

I am an administrator over at http://www.webhostingboard.net/ and we are looking for a way to place some limitations but I have not been able to find any mods that will do this. Maybe I am not searching for the right things so hopefully you all can help us out.

We need a mod that will prevent users from doing certain things until certain conditions are met such as No Signature until you have been a member for 7 days and have at least 10 posts and you cannot post in certain sections as well until this is met.

I think just making regular registered users should be limited and then have a secondary "registered users" group that can do these things and setting up some automated way to run the checks (on a cron) and then changing the user group when the requirements have been met.

Also we would like to set some forum sections (the marketplace) to where you can only make one post every 7 days, I have seen it on other forums but I'm not entirely sure what mod/setting it would be for this.

Thank you!

I guess I'm going to have to custom code something to do this, unless anybody has any suggestions?

AdminCP -> Usergroups -> Promotions

You'll need different usergroups. When they register, they'll be the lowest. once they meet certain criteria, they can be promoted.

AdminCP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Permissions

I can help more if you need, but I'm exhausted and not thinking too coherently. Send me a PM if you need more help.

Now I just need to know how to limit a user to 1 post in a forum per 7 days (or x posts per x days) - do you know of a mod that would allow me to set this up ? I've not had any luck searching for one.

Sorry, but I haven't seen any mod that does that and I don't believe there's any settings in ACP that lets you do that. I'm assuming it could easily be done with the use of cookies and/or IP addresses, but I don't know for sure.

Well it needs to be by username, I have seen forums where when you post and if you try to post again it will say something like "Sorry, only one post is allowed every X days" which is my goal.

I've had no luck in finding this but I know it's entirely possible as I've seen it on other vBulletin forums. There has to be a mod out there that will do it!

There is a mod for limiting posting (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=131014) that can do some of this. I've played with it and it seems to work as advertised.

I'm looking to incorporate it with some sort of promotion/demotion strategy, whereby my idiot posters are limited in how much damage they can do. And how much dreck my mods have to read.
