Last Post
Just noticed how long the lastpost area is (How can you miss it). Wouldn't it be better to shorten it (check the space that's wasted). I'm sure with this shortened a little it would make more room for the Forum data/text to expand and breathe a little?
Your thoughts? |

LOL, I just noticed this too. I agree with you though, it would look better if it was a little smaller

Yeah, I'm not saying shorten it alot say a couple of feet or so. I'm betting you could park a truck in that space. I like to think that the forum index space is valuable and should be used efficiently. I'd say shorten it 35-45pxs.
Anyway, I've recommended it so hopefully more will agree not that it's a big deal. |

Exactly where are you referring to ? Im looking at the thread listings on the forum display page and its only as big as it needs to be - determined by the largest member name it has to accomodate, which happens to be Marco.
Edit: NM, I think you mean the homepage (index.php) - it does seem to be a bit big. Dont know why, dont really do much html, one for Joe to look at. |

It's on all styles...the column width percentages are:
HTML Code:
<td class="thead" width="50%" align="left">Forum</td> <td class="thead" width="36%">Last Post</td> <td class="thead" width="8%">Threads</td> <td class="thead" width="8%">Posts</td> |

Yes two templates need editing to make the changes. It's a 10 second adjustment although I never took into account marcos username length. But even at the length it is I still think the lastpost is a little long in width on all the styles ((maybe not the fixed styles) I haven't checked.
The two templates that need modifying I believe are... forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost forumhome_forumbit_level2_post Edit: Being set as a % rather than px adjusting this could pose problems with users using lower resolutions. It might be best actually leaving it, or do further testing at lower resolutions with marco posting last see if it breaks the whole lastpost data (probably be best leaving the whole thing alone). Edit: I just checked at a resolution of 1024px x 768 and the lastpost widths look good and wouldn't/shouldn't need adjusting. I wouldn't recommend adjusting it lower although at higher resolutions there's a gap but I think that is expected and something the higher res users can live with. I'm basing this off the blue style (fluid). |

As I said, I dont really do much html, but I can add up, and unless I'm mistaken, they add up to more than 100%, that cant be right surely ?

If that was one of the templates that the code was quoted from, you may want to look into the other template because the thead bar lines up with the lastpost data so this must be set/combined to 102% as well.

50% for forum info is good enough (view attachment as to why this won't change)
Attachment 96748 FIXED: percentage issue  MODIFIED: increased characters on last post title FYI: We use 1 style (multiple stylesheets) for vbulletin.org. |
