Trouble with user rank images

So I have full administrator access but not ftp access to the forum I'm running. I have these images I want to attach to user ranks and I see two options - "User rank file path" and "OR you may enter text". The first one is out it seems to me as I can't get files onto the same directory until I can get someone else to put them up which will take time. I can't do that now though regardless. For the second option, I've uploaded an image on ImageShack and tried to link to the image in the box that says "OR you may enter text" but all that shows up is the link typed out in text where the image should be. Literally the "http://.........." shows up on all the posts just like an image rank would normally do.

What can I do?

Did you use html for the image or just put in the http:// etc? You need to use an image tag.

I did <img src="link"></img> and all that came up was the link in text where the image should be.

There is no such thing as </img> . You may want to google the image tag (don't forget the alt="" part).

If your image path is correct, and you used proper html, then this should work. I just tested it on my test forum.
